Our clinic
The rooms, the equipment and where inpatients stay. Every photograph is from our own clinic.
We are on 2382. Sokak in Yeni Batı Mahallesi, Batıkent. Examination, surgery, blood work and inpatient care all happen in the same building, so an animal is not moved from one place to another. We are open at any hour.

Our clinicClose
The rooms
The places a visit passes through, in order.

Waiting areaClose
Waiting area
By the window, just inside the street door. Keeping your cat in its carrier while you wait lowers the tension for your animal and for the others waiting.

Examination and laboratoryClose
Examination and laboratory
Physical examination and blood work share one room. Samples are not sent away, so most results are ready while you are still here.

Treatment roomClose
Treatment room
Drips, dressings, vaccinations and minor procedures are done here. The table is stainless steel, so it can be cleaned completely between patients.

Operating roomClose
Operating room
Surgery happens in a room of its own, away from the examination area. The anaesthesia machine and the monitoring equipment stand beside the table.

Radiology roomClose
Radiology room
The x-ray unit and the computer that processes the image are in the same room, so we can look at the picture together a few minutes after it is taken.
Inpatient care
Our inpatients stay in rooms, not in cages.
An animal that has to stay with us has a room of its own: its bed, its water and, for cats, a litter tray are inside, and there is enough floor to stand up and move around. Cats are in a separate part where dogs cannot be heard. The reason is not only comfort. A tense animal eats less, sleeps less and heals more slowly; somewhere it can settle, it responds better to treatment. We are flexible about visits, because an animal that sees its owner will often start eating again.

Equipment
Diagnostic and anaesthetic equipment is here in the clinic. Here is briefly what each machine is for.

Gas anaesthesia machineClose
Gas anaesthesia machine
The anaesthetic is given by breathing. Because it does not accumulate in the blood, the depth can be adjusted minute by minute during the procedure and the animal wakes quickly at the end; that is the clearest difference from an injected anaesthetic. The machine also has a ventilator, so where breathing is failing, after a road accident or with a torn diaphragm, it can take over the patient’s breathing.

Biochemistry analyserClose
Biochemistry analyser
It measures the enzymes and proteins that organs such as the liver, the kidneys and the pancreas release into the blood as they work. Those values show whether an organ is damaged and how far it has gone. The sample is run here, so the result comes in the same visit.

Hormone and early detection analyserClose
Hormone and early detection analyser
It measures thyroid and reproductive hormones. It also runs tests that can show kidney disease and heart failure before the classic blood values shift, and tests for some viral diseases. A disease caught early is easier to manage.
Ultrasound and echocardiography
It shows the abdominal organs and the heart while they move. Colour Doppler measures the direction and speed of blood inside the heart, which is how a leaking valve is assessed. Pregnancy is followed with the same machine.

X-ray and digital imagingClose
X-ray and digital imaging
The first imaging we reach for with fractures, with the chest and abdomen, and with swallowed foreign bodies. The image is processed digitally, so it can be enlarged on screen and looked at together.

Air scenting systemClose
Air scenting system
The smell of a clinic is a source of tension in itself, and cats in particular react to what the previous patient left behind. The unit keeps refreshing the air in the room.
